Cool Parameters PropertyManager

The Cool Parameters PropertyManager defines process parameters that apply to the cooling process.

To open the Cool Parameters PropertyManager:

  • In the PlasticsManager, expand Global Parameters , and double-click Cool .
Mold Open Time

SOLIDWORKS Plastics uses this quantity to compute the Total Cycle Time as follows:

Total Cycle Time = Cooling Time (Cool Parameters PropertyManager) + Mold Open Time.

This is equivalent to:

Total Cycle Time = Filling Time (Injection Unit Settings PropertyManager) + Pressure Holding Time (Injection Unit Settings PropertyManager) + Pure Cooling Time (Injection Unit Settings - Pack PropertyManager) + Mold Open Time.

The following options determine the end of the Cool analysis.

  Cooling Time

Calculates the total cooling time in seconds as follows:

Cooling Time = Filling Time (Injection Unit Settings PropertyManager) + Pressure Holding Time (Injection Unit Settings - Pack tab PropertyManager) + Pure Cooling Time (Injection Unit Settings - Pack tab PropertyManager)

The Cool simulation solver uses the Cooling Time to calculate the temperature reduction of the polymer material inside the mold cavity.

To modify the Cooling Time without affecting the other preprocess settings, edit the Pure Cooling Time in the Injection Unit Settings - Pack tab PropertyManager.

Eject Temperature Specifies the material's ejection temperature.

The Cool analysis ends when 90% of the cavity volume falls below the material’s ejection temperature.

Flow Rate / Coolant Temperature Profile Lets you specify a varying flow rate and coolant temperature during the cooling cycle. Coolant Input boundary conditions override this data.

This option is available when you select Cooling Time for option Specify control based on.

  Reset All Resets all settings.

Solver Settings

Options Provides access to the Advanced Cool Solver Settings.

Accept the default values of the solver settings to produce the best results over a wide range of cases. For most analyses, you do not need to modify the solver settings.
