Runner System PropertyManager

Molten polymer flows through the runner system from the injector nozzle to the part cavity.

To open the Runner System PropertyManager:

  • In the PlasticsManager, right-click Domains , and click Runner System.

You can create runner systems from sketches that represent the centerline of the runner channel. SOLIDWORKS Plastics creates temporary solid bodies from the sketch-based runners, which you can mesh and use in plastics injection molding simulations.

Sketch-Based Runner

Select one of the standard cross-sections for the runner layout and specify its dimensions. All standard cross-sections are available for the Solid and Shell mesh procedures.

Selections Select sketch lines to define the channel layout.
Flip Dimension Reverses the dimensions for the selected runner.
Circle Specifies the channel diameters D1 and D2 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1 and a draft angle .
Square Specifies the dimensions of the square cross sections D1 and D2 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1 and a draft angle . Also, specify the orientation angle of the cross section .
Half Circle Specifies the channel diameters D1 and D2 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1 and a draft angle . Also, specify the orientation angle of the cross section .
Rectangular Specifies the dimensions of the rectangular cross sections D1, D2, D3, and D4 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1 and D2 and a draft angle . Also, specify the orientation angle of the cross section .
Trapezoid Specifies the dimensions of the trapezoidal shape D1, D2, D3, D4, H1, and H2 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1, D2, H1, and a draft angle . Also, specify the orientation angle of the cross section .
Ellipse Specifies the dimensions of the elliptical cross sections D1, D2, D3, and D4 for each line segment of the sketch. Alternatively, specify D1, D2, and a draft angle . Also, specify the orientation angle of the cross section .
