-Views

Use the -Views command to save views of a drawing and restore them on screen. You can also display preset orthographic or isometric views and determine some characteristics of user-defined views.

It is the command window variant of the Views command.

To save the current view as a user-defined view:

  1. Type -Views at the command prompt.
  2. Specify the Save option.
  3. Type a name for the view.
  4. Press Enter.

    The view is saved.

To define the area of the window to save:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Window option.
  3. Type a name for the view.
  4. In the graphics area, click the corners to define the window to save as a view.

To retrieve a previously saved user-defined view:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Restore option.
  3. Type the name of the view to display.

To list saved user-defined views:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the ? option.
  3. Type a view name or press Enter to display all saved views.

    The views are listed with the workspaces in which they were defined, where M means Model workspace, and P means Sheet workspace.

To delete user-defined views:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Delete option.
  3. Type the view names to delete.

To set a standard orthographic view:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Orthographic option.
  3. Specify an option: Back, Bottom, Front, Left, Right, or Top.

To classify a user-defined view:

Assigning classes to user-defined views helps manage the saved views. The Views dialog box displays the view class.

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Settings option.
  3. Specify the Classify option.
  4. Type the view name to classify.
  5. Type the category name.

To save or delete a user-defined view's layer visibility settings:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Settings option.
  3. Specify the Layer snapshot option.
  4. Type the view name whose layer you want to edit.
  5. Specify the Save or Delete option.

To determine whether the coordinate system and elevation settings are saved when a view is saved:

  1. Type -Views.
  2. Specify the Settings option.
  3. Specify the CCS (Custom Coordinate System) option.
  4. Specify the Yes or No option.
