Pasting Elements

The Paste command inserts objects from the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard. The command is available at various places of SOLIDWORKS Electrical. The type of object inserted depends on the environment. If the clipboard is empty, the command cancels.

Paste in the Graphical Area

You can Paste entities in the graphical area.
  1. Access the Paste command using one of the following:
    • Click Edit > Paste .
    • From the graphical element shortcut menu, select Paste .
  2. In the graphical area, click the insertion point.
If the pasted elements have a mark (such as a symbol, wire, or drawing), the mark automatically recalculates the relationship to the existing objects in the electrical project. Use the Paste special command to manage the marks yourself.

Paste in the Management Dialog Boxes

You can Paste elements using management dialog boxes.
  1. Click Management dialog boxes > Paste .

The objects in the Management dialog boxes (for example: symbols, cables, or manufacturer parts) can also be copied and pasted. A new object is created and a suffix +n (n = order number) is added to the name of the new object.

Paste Electrical Project Pages

You can Paste using the shortcut menu of an electrical project, book, folder, or drawings.
  1. Select the location where you want to insert elements.
  2. From the project, book, folder, or drawing shortcut menu, select Paste .

If a scheme or line diagram is the object of a Copy and Paste command, a new drawing is created, and its content is automatically duplicated. You can copy electrical projects (electrical project content), books, folders, or drawings in the same electrical project or in another electrical project.
