Adding Textures

You can apply 2D images (such as materials and logos) to 3D actor surfaces.

  1. Select one or more actors.

    Tip: Use Align Camera on Face to position an actor before applying a texture. See Navigate Commands.

  2. In the Properties pane, under Texture, select Enable.

    Texture properties appear, and a default texture appears on the selected actors.

  3. Choose the texture to apply:
    1. Double-click Map path.
      The default folder for texture images is defined in Application Paths. See Application Paths.
    2. In the dialog box, select an image and click Open.

    Tip: You can also drag an image from the Textures workshop or Windows Explorer to an actor.

  4. Select a Projection mode: Planer (default), Spherical, or Cylindrical.
  5. In the Textures workshop toolbar, click Set Texture Projection Axis or Set Texture Projection Camera and position the texture on the model.
  6. If necessary, position the texture using Texture Translation Mode or Texture Rotation Mode .
  7. In the Properties pane, adjust the proportion and scale of the texture using Ratio height/width and Scale.
  8. Optionally select Mosaic (repeat) to reproduce the image repeatedly.

Tip: Copy Appearance Properties (Properties pane) copies textures and other appearance properties from one actor to another. See About Actor Properties.
