Creating and Manipulating Cutting Planes

With cutting planes, you can create and manage cross-section (cutaway) views of your models.

Using Two Cutting Planes to Create a Quarter Cross Section
  1. Click Author > Cutting Planes > Create .
    If no actors are selected, the cutting plane is applied to the entire model. The cutting plane is created normal to the positioning arrow .
    Note: You can display a maximum of three cutting planes simultaneously.
    Tip: To orient your model so the cutting plane is parallel to the screen, double-click the cutting plane.
  2. Select the plane and do either of the following:
    • To move the cutting plane to another position, click Author > Cutting Planes > Move Cutting Plane . Press Alt to align on an axis.
    • To rotate the cutting plane, move the mouse over a cutting-plane edge (the mouse pointer changes to ) and drag.
    • To change the cutting plane depth, move the mouse over the cutting plane (the mouse pointer changes to ) and drag.
