Managing Properties

All actors and the viewport background have properties that define their characteristics, such as color and opacity.

You view and edit properties from the Properties pane in the lower-left corner of the Composer window.

  1. Drag the initial view to the viewport.
  2. In the viewport, click to select the LPattern2 part.

    The Properties pane displays the LPattern2 properties.

  3. In the Properties pane, for the Color property, click to select a new color.

    The viewport updates to show the new color.

  4. Drag the Opacity slider to approximately 120.

    The part is now partially transparent.

  5. With Opacity still selected, click Restore Neutral Properties in the Properties toolbar.

    The default opacity is restored.

    Tip: You can save a new default property value by clicking Set as Neutral Properties in the Properties toolbar. Changing the neutral value affects all views containing the actor.
  6. In the viewport, select any two geometry actors and change some property values.

    The Properties pane shows only properties common to the selected actors. Property changes affect all selected actors.

  7. In the Properties pane, with no properties selected, click Restore Neutral Properties .

    This restores all properties to their neutral values.

    Tip: Use the Ctrl key to add or remove property selections.
  8. Select LPattern2 and change its color again.
    Tip: Use styles to define a set of property values that you can apply to actors. See Styles Workshop.
