Importing and Opening Files

You can import a number of 3D and 2D file formats in Composer. You can also open native Composer (*.smg, *.smgXml, *.smgGeom, *.Geom, *.smgProj) or Sync (*.seeb, *.smgSeeb) files.

Note: When loading Composer documents such as *.smg, smgXML, *.smgProj and fully shattered files, the loading status is displayed in the left-hand side of the status bar. If needed, you can cancel the loading operation by pressing the Escape key.

Import and Open Files

You can import various file formats, as well as open native Composer files from the Open dialog box.

  1. Click File > Open .
  2. In the Open dialog box, select the file to import or open and click Open.

    See Open Files for more on import or open options.

Open Files from Windows Explorer

You can open native Composer (*.smg, *.smgXml, *.smgGeom, *.Geom, *.smgProj) or Sync (*.seeb, *.smgSeeb) files directly from Windows Explorer.

  1. From Windows Explorer, right-click a Composer or Sync file.
  2. In the context menu that appears, select an option.
    OptionDescription
    Open
    • Opens the document in a new window if no session of Composer is already running.
    • Opens the document in the already-opened Composer window if a session is already running.
    Open in new Window Opens the document in a new window (that is, a new session of Composer).
    Play in Composer Player Opens the document in Player.
    Note: If several versions of Composer, Sync or Player are installed, the latest version is used.
