Appending Entities to Dimension Bounding Boxes

You can append entities to a dimension bounding box by using the AppendToDimBoundingBox command, when the entities are outside of a dimension bounding box.

Dimension bounding boxes automatically update when existing geometry changes, and entities are added or deleted.

In the example below, existing geometry was changed and new entities that cross the dimension bounding box were added. The dimension bounding box automatically updates based on the new set of entities.
Dimension bounding boxes cannot include the following entities:
  • Infinite lines
  • Rays
  • Dimensions
  • Annotations
  • Proxy entities

To append entities to the dimension bounding box:

  1. Make sure that Dimension Bounding Box is enabled on the status bar. All dimension bounding boxes must be visible.
  2. In the graphics area, specify the entities to add to the dimension bounding box. Then select the new entities.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click and select Append from the context menu.
    • Type AppendToDimBoundingBox.
  4. If dimension bounding boxes are disabled, specify Yes in the Command Window.
  5. In the graphics area, click in the dimension bounding box to which you want to add the specified entities.

The dimension bounding box extends to include the new entities.
