Advanced Conversion Options (eDrawings)

Use the Advanced Conversion Options (eDrawings) dialog box to set options when exporting SOLIDWORKS documents as eDrawings® files.

To display this dialog box:

  • When configuring a conversion task, on the Conversions Settings page of the Convert - Properties dialog box, for Output file format, select eDrawings (*.eprt; *.easm; *edrw) and click Conversion Options.
  • When initiating a conversion task, in the Convert dialog box, for Output file format, select eDrawings (*.eprt; *.easm; *edrw) and click Conversion Options.
Okay to measure this eDrawings file Recipients can measure the geometry in the eDrawings Viewer.
Allow export to STL for parts and assemblies Recipients can save it as an Stereo Lithography (STL) file from the eDrawings Viewer.
Save shaded data in drawings (drawings only)

Saves shaded and draft quality data from the SOLIDWORKS drawing document. When cleared, shaded and draft quality views are omitted from the eDrawings file.

In SOLIDWORKS, you must also select Save tessellated data for drawings with shaded and draft quality views in Options > Drawings before you can export this data.
Save Bill of Materials features to eDrawings file If the part or assembly document you are saving includes bills of materials, select to include the bill of materials information in the exported eDrawings file.
Save Motion Studies to eDrawings file For models with SOLIDWORKS Motion Studies. Saving motion studies can increase file size and creation time:
Save each motion study in every configuration

The out of date motion studies are automatically recalculated before exporting to eDrawings.

Save only in last calculated configuration

The configuration of the most recently calculated motion study is used.

Recalculate the motion study if the results are out of date

Recalculates any out of date motion studies in that configuration before exporting.

Reset All Resets the options to factory defaults.
