Appearances and Materials for 3DEXPERIENCE Models

The software maps SOLIDWORKS appearances applied to faces, features, bodies, and parts in SOLIDWORKS models to faces, features, bodies, and parts of models on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The software also maps SOLIDWORKS physical materials applied to bodies and parts in SOLIDWORKS models to bodies and parts of models on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Note these differences and requirements in implementation.
Item Description
Hierarchy On the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the override hierarchy is part > body > feature > face. This means a part appearance overrides a body, which overrides a feature, which overrides a face. This is the opposite of the SOLIDWORKS override hierarchy.
Libraries As a prerequisite, you must import the xDesign Material Library.
Customizations

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform recognizes only stock appearances; it does not support overrides or custom appearances.
