Deleting Physical Products, CAD Families, and Configurations

Consider the following when deleting SOLIDWORKS configurations saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:

Deleting Physical Products

When you delete physical products in SOLIDWORKS, they are also deleted from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You can delete products not referenced in any assembly by checking and removing their references using the Relations app in a top-down approach.

Deleting SOLIDWORKS CAD Families

You can delete a CAD Family from the Collaborative Lifecycle or Bookmark Editor. When you delete a CAD Family, all the corresponding physical products are also deleted. To delete a CAD family, ensure that the physical products associated with it are not referenced in any assembly.

Deleting Configurations

When you delete configurations, the software guides you on what to do. In offline mode, if a configuration has a reference, you can save changes by creating a new revision or breaking the reference.

For configurations linked to a physical product on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:
  • If there are no references, the configuration is deleted.
  • If there are references to other components, use the Relations app to edit them.
