Detailing for Sketch Slots

You can insert center marks in slots, include slots in hole tables, and display hole callouts for straight slots.

Center Marks in Slots

To insert center marks into slots whenever you create drawing views for parts or assemblies:

  1. Click Options (Standard toolbar).
  2. Select the Document Properties tab.
  3. Under Auto insert on view creation, select Center marks - slots -part or Center marks - slots -assembly.
  4. Select the Centerlines/Center Marks page, and select the slot center mark placement options.
    The slot center mark placement options affect all center marks you place in slots, not just the ones SOLIDWORKS places in drawing views automatically.
To manually place a center mark in a slot, select Slot center mark for Manual Insert Options in the Center Mark PropertyManager.

Setting Slot Center Marks at View Creation

You can set up SOLIDWORKS to insert center marks whenever you create drawing views.

To automatically place center marks in slots at drawing view creation for parts or assemblies:

  1. Click Options (Standard toolbar).
  2. Select Detailing from the Document Properties tab.
  3. Under Auto insert on view creation, select Center marks - slots -part or Center marks - slots -assembly and click OK.

Manually Placing Sketch Slot Center Marks

To place a center mark in a sketch:

  1. Click Center Mark (Annotations toolbar).
  2. Under Manual Insert Options, select Slot center mark.
  3. Select other options for the center mark type.
  4. In the graphics area, select an arc or curved edge of a slot and click .

Slots in Hole Tables

You can include slots in hole tables:
  • Slot center location appears in the XLOC and YLOC columns.
  • Slot dimensions for straight slots appear in the SIZE column.

Hole Callouts for Slots

You can apply hole callouts to straight slots. The slot dimensions appear in the callout.
