You
can use SOLIDWORKS Connected when you are not connected to the
internet.
You can work offline for a limited period of time without connecting to
the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the Work
Offline command. You can work offline for 30 consecutive days maximum.
If you do not return online before the selected offline period, your applications
reconnect automatically.
You can create new content and work locally on any content while offline.
When you return online, you can save new and updated content to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
When you work offline, the licenses for all the roles assigned to you are
taken offline until you turn off Work Offline or
the offline license expires.
Offline Licensing
When you work offline, all your assigned licenses from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform are cached locally on your
computer.
When your licenses are cached locally, you cannot open your installed
apps on any other computer. To return your licenses and use them on other computers:
- Turn off Work
Offline.
- Close any running apps.
When offline
licenses are detected, all SOLIDWORKS
3DEXPERIENCE installed
applications start in an offline mode. If you are online and are able to connect to
the
3DEXPERIENCE platform, your application remains in
offline mode until you turn off
Work
Offline.
Warning
When you extract the license keys file, the keys are saved to
C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\Licenses.
Remember that you:
- Create the Licenses
folder manually if it does not exist.
- Must have write access to the folder.
- Do not change, rename, or move the folder and its associated
files.
- Do not modify the folder permissions.
- Configure the backup software so that it does not back up
this folder.
- Configure the security software so that it does not scan
.LIC files in this folder.
Custom Properties
When you run SOLIDWORKS Connected in offline mode, you can use
functionality related to custom properties. The system informs you if there are
limitations to your actions.
Temporary Offline Mode
Introduced in
3DEXPERIENCE R2025x FD03,
temporary offline mode allows SOLIDWORKS Connected and supported apps to continue
functioning when an unexpected loss of internet connection occurs.
- If you start your session connected and lose the connection
mid-use, the app enters temporary offline mode.
- While in temporary offline mode, the app checks for an
internet connection in the background.
- Once the connection is restored, a prompt appears requesting
you to restart the app to reconnect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform fully.
- You can continue working with local files during brief
outages or connectivity issues.
Additionally, starting with R2025x FD02, if you used SOLIDWORKS
Connected within the past 30 days and start the app without an internet connection,
the app prompts you to enter offline mode manually.
Supported apps for temporary offline mode include:
- SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected
- DraftSight Connected
- 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight
Professional
- Electrical Schematic Designer
