3DEXPERIENCE users can create and view the
rigid,
deformable, and deformed
shapes
of the same model in an
assembly.
Some models, such as springs, start
as
a fixed shape but deform when placed in an assembly. Many models rely on deformation to
perform their function. For example, a spring has a coil shape when free. When you
insert a spring in an assembly, it compresses and changes.
You can use the Product Mechanical
Behavior
command in
MySession to view, define, and modify the status of a SOLIDWORKS model. You can manage
different
statuses
for the same model.
For example, you can add a model that is deformable, such as a coiled
spring. You can make a deformed version of it, such as a spring stretched to a specific
length. In a bill of materials, the part number links back to the original deformable
model of that spring.
Statuses include:
Status |
Description |
Image |
Rigid |
The model does not
change
shape when you apply forces to
it. |
|
Deformable |
The model can change shape when you apply forces
to it. |

|
Deformed |
Someone applied force to the model, deforming
it, resulting in a change to its shape. |
