Syntax Checking with Color Coding

The Equations dialog box includes syntax checking to avoid errors and reduce the time you spend on troubleshooting mistakes.

When you enter text into the Name and Value/Equation columns, the text color varies depending on these conditions:
  • Valid global variables, features and dimensions appear in blue.
  • Incomplete and invalid text displays in red.
  • Potentially invalid text, for example text that may include a circular reference, is displayed in yellow. A yellow warning icon is also displayed in the row.
  • Valid operators, functions, and other inputs appear in black.

Positioning the cursor over the yellow or red text displays a warning message. Clicking the warning icon displays a What’s Wrong window describing the issue or error.
