Updating Legacy Slots

SOLIDWORKS 2024 introduced improvements to creating slots when the tab is at an angle to the sheet with the slot. If you update a part with legacy slots, the software may ask you to update the slots.

To update legacy slots:

  1. Open a sheet metal part that has a tab and slot created before SOLIDWORKS 2024.
    The sheets for the tab and slot must be at an angle to each other.
  2. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click Tab and Slot-Tab and click Edit Feature .
  3. In the dialog box, select an option:
    Option Description
    Yes Updates the selected slot to remove excess material from the slot. You cannot undo this operation.

    Applies any changes that you made to the tab and slot in the PropertyManager.
    Cancel Does not update the selected slot.

    Applies any changes that you made to the tab and slot in the PropertyManager but does not convert the slot to the updated behavior.
