Features

Features settings specify information in the CMM output file for comparing different files. This helps determine if the measurement results are for the same feature.

To display this dialog box:

  1. In the CMM Data Import pane, click Settings .
  2. In the Settings dialog box, select a template and click Edit .
  3. In the CMM Template Editor dialog box, click Features.

Feature Dividers

Specifies characters that divide features.

For example, in PC-DMIS, lines divide all features.

Feature ID Recognition

Determines if the data from different samples is for the same feature.

Characteristic Header information.
Axis Axis name.

For example, in PC-DMIS, this is TP.

Plus Tol. Value reported as the plus tolerance.

CMM software that includes the bonus in the plus tolerance results in different tolerances reported for each sample. Step Ahead interprets the results as being from different features, and does not report the sample results together.

The first file is primary, and is used to compare all other samples. To eliminate this issue, clear Plus Tol.

Feature Name Provided by the CMM software.

For example, in PC-DMIS, this is DIM D2.

Nominal Required measurement size.
Minus Tol. Value reported as the minus tolerance.

Axis ID Recognition

Determines if the data from different samples is for the same axis.
