Sunlight PropertyManager

You can add sunlight to your model.

You can add only one instance of sunlight to a model.

To display this PropertyManager:

  1. In a part or assembly, select the Motion Studies tab.
  2. To add sunlight, click View > Lights and Cameras > Add Sunlight .

    To edit sunlight, expand Lights and Cameras . Right-click Sunlight and click Properties.

Basic

On in SOLIDWORKS Enables the sunlight in SOLIDWORKS.

Location, Time, and Date

  North direction Specifies a planar face, an axis, or an edge to define the north direction that projects onto the scene floor.

Click Reverse Direction to reverse the north direction by 180 degrees.

To align the sunlight scene horizon correctly, verify that the scene floor is parallel to the bottom of the model.
Location Select a location from the list, or select Specify Location to enter a north latitude and an east longitude.
North latitude Specifies the coordinate for the northern position of the location.

Available when you select Specify Location for Location.

East longitude Specifies the coordinate for the eastern position of the location.

Available when you select Specify Location for Location.

Time zone from GMT Specifies the time zone for the sunlight location relative to Greenwich Mean Time.
Date Specifies the date to apply the sunlight.
To specify an equinox or solstice, click and select an option:
  • Northward Equinox
  • Northern Solstice
  • Southward Equinox
  • Southern Solstice
Time of day Specifies the time to apply the sunlight.

Information

  Information Lists sunlight settings based on the selected options.
Save Information To File Saves the information to a file.
