3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility

You can schedule tasks to update SOLIDWORKS parts and assemblies for 3DEXPERIENCE compatibility. The update modifies custom properties and configuration behavior to align with the 3DEXPERIENCE requirements.

You can also apply 3DEXPERIENCE integration rules to the task. The rules map parts and assemblies to physical products and representations in the platform. For details about using 3DEXPERIENCE integration rules, see 3DEXPERIENCE Integration Options.

This task is exclusively intended for customers who are preparing to save their models to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Once the updates are applied, you cannot revert the changes.

Creating a 3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility Task

To create a 3DEXPERIENCE compatibility task:

  1. Click 3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility on the sidebar, or click Tasks > 3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility.
  2. In the 3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility dialog box, enter a Title for the task or leave the default.
  3. Optional: Specify the path of the 3DEXPERIENCE integration rules file or browse to a new path for the file.

Scheduling the Task

To schedule the task:

    Option Description
Running mode How often the task runs. Select Once, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
    Start time
    Start date
  2. Click Options to specify backup locations.
  3. Click Advanced to change the working folder, time-out values, and other options.
  4. Click Finish in the 3DEXPERIENCE Compatibility dialog box..
The task and its title, scheduled time, scheduled date, and status appear in the Tasks panel. The status of the task is Scheduled.
To run a scheduled task, your computer and printer must be on at the scheduled start time. The SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler window does not need to be open. If your computer is off at the scheduled start time, the task runs when you turn your computer on.

At the scheduled start time, the task is initiated. If the task acts on more than one file, a sub-task is generated for each file. If you selected Backup task files in Task Options, a backup copy of each file is saved to a .zip file. Then each file is imported. When the task completes, the status changes to Completed.

After the task completes, click Completed to see the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler Report.
If your backup files include Unicode file paths, use a zip file extraction application that supports UTF-8 encoding.
