Generate Derived Output

Using the Design with SOLIDWORKS app or SOLIDWORKS Connected, you can schedule a task that generates derived output in .DXF, .DWG, or .PDF files from SOLIDWORKS drawings (.SLDDRW) and uploads the output to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

For the task to appear in the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler, install the Design with SOLIDWORKS app or SOLIDWORKS Connected on your machine.

Creating a Generate Derived Output Task

To create a Generate Derived Output task:

  1. Click Generate Derived Output on the sidebar, or click Tasks > Generate Derived Output.
  2. Enter a new title for the task or leave the default in the Task title of the dialog box.
  3. Select one of the following for Derived Output:
    • DWG
    • DXF
    • PDF
  4. Select a Collaborative Space.
    The Task Scheduler searches for .slddrw files in the collaborative space where you are a member.
  5. For the Maturity of the .SLDDRW files, select either Released or Frozen and Released.
  6. For Owner, select All Content or My Content from the collaborative space.

Scheduling the Task

When you schedule a task, it executes once at the specified time on the current day.

To schedule the task:

  1. Specify the Start time for Task schedule.
  2. Click Options to specify Export Options.
    Option Description
    Version Selects the target AutoCAD® version.
    Fonts Select one of the following:

    AutoCAD Standard Only

    Uses the drawingfontmap.txt mapping file.

    TrueType

    Line styles Select one of the following:

    AutoCAD Standard Styles

    Maps SOLIDWORKS line fonts to AutoCAD stock line types. For AutoCAD version R2000 and later, also maps line font weight to the closest AutoCAD line weight value.

    SOLIDWORKS Custom Styles

    Uses SOLIDWORKS software line styles.

    Custom Map SOLIDWORKS to DXF Exports the mapping specified in the selected map file.
    Map file Specifies the default target map file.
    Export drawing sheet  
    Scale output 1:1 Specifies the default target map file.
  3. Click Advanced to update options including Task working folder location, Time out duration, and Run minimized mode.
  4. Click OK in the Export Options and Advanced dialog boxes.
  5. Click Finish in the Generate Derived Output dialog box.
