Save Tab in Options Dialog Box

This section describes the options that are related to the Save operation.

Option Description
Use original filename as Title This option is coupled with the Auto-Name option on the Settings page of the Platform Management widget. When you select this option, the original name of an object is retained andis displayed on the CAD Family Title. If the option is cleared, the Display Name is aligned to the auto-name by default. Also, if the CAD Family Title is changed in the Collaborative Lifecycle, the changed title appears in the SOLIDWORKS.
If the CAD Family title is changed, the updated title is visible when you perform a reload from server operation.
Save Graphical Properties Lets you save the graphical properties of an object. When this option is selected, the hide or show state and the color information are visible on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Only those graphical properties that are applied in SOLIDWORKS are saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The Duplicate or Revise operations duplicate the properties. Also, the Save as New Revision operation takes into account the graphical properties during the save process.
  • Saving the graphical properties of the data is not applicable for the save operation using the batch process.
  • Choosing this option might affect the save performance.
.
Save information about weight and balance Lets you save the weight and balance properties of parts to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This option is available if Update mass properties while saving document is selected in the SOLIDWORKSSystem Options > Performance dialog box. If Update mass properties while saving document is not selected an error message appears when you select Save information about weight and balance.
If you have the Weight and Balance Designer or Weight and Balance Manager role, along with the CATIA Weight and Balance app, you can view the mass and weight properties. In the absence of the app and roles and, the information is saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, but you cannot view it.
Replace current revision automatically when creating a new revision When this option is selected, if a new revision is created for an object, the earlier revision is automatically replaced with the latest revision in MySession. All the instances of the object are replaced with the new revision. Also, the revised object is locked to avoid any modification by other users.
  • The replacement happens only in the current session. It is not saved locally or to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  • This option is available only on data with SOLIDWORKS CAD Format.
Default bookmark for new data Assigns a bookmark for the new data. You can choose or create a bookmark from the bookmark selector that acts as a default bookmark.
  • The assigned bookmark can be changed from the Save dialog box. Also, you can clear the bookmark by right-clicking the bookmark control and selecting Reset.
  • The selected bookmark is not applicable for save using the Batch Save to 3DEXPERIENCE command andSaveInto3DEXPERIENCE.exe.
Use part or assembly title as new drawing title Renames the title of the drawing in a particular structure to the title as that of a part or an assembly. You can choose any of the following:
  • Only when first saved: Cchanges the drawing title only for the first save operation. For the subsequent saves, the title is not changed to reflect the changes made.
  • On every save or update: Changes the drawing title on every change made in the title of the part or assembly, and when the drawing is saved again.
For save using Batch Save to 3DEXPERIENCE, the autonaming is valid only if Auto-Name is on.
Activate Asynchronous Save This option is default selection and it starts an asynchronous save process when the number of objects that are part of the save process are 25 or more. As the asynchronous save is in progress, you can continue using SOLIDWORKS.
On premises only: During this save process the CGRs or any other output format of the objects are generated using Derived Format Converter only.
Save related drawings Lets you either include or exclude the drawings in the save process. By default, the option is not selected, so the drawings associated with the objects are not part of the save operation. This reduces the time required for the operation to complete.
Enable save optimization When this option is selected, only the new and modified objects and their first-level references are part of the save process. Also, the save dialog box displays details only of the new and modified objects.
By default, the option is selected.
Impact of Enable save optimization on the Save dialog box:
  • When the Enable save optimization option is enabled, you cannot use the Save as new revision command for the nonmodified objects. Use the Revise command or disable the Enable save optimization option to recover the previous behavior.
  • When the Enable save optimization option is enabled, you cannot assign bookmarks to the nonmodified objects.
