You can create a custom property that has a text value.
Users can add text for the property in the PropertyManager.
To create a custom text property:

In Windows, click .

In SOLIDWORKS, click Configure in the
SOLIDWORKS System Options - Hole Wizard/Toolbox dialog
box.

Click 2 -
Customize Your Hardware.

On the Customize
Hardware page, select the folder or indivdual component to apply
the custom property to.

Under Custom
Properties, click Add New Custom Property
.

In the Custom
Property Definition dialog box, type the Property Name.

Under Type, select
Textbox.

Under Options, set options as needed.

Type an optional Overall default
value.

Click OK.
Text Property Example
In the
Custom Property Definition dialog box:
- Create a custom text property called myNotes.
- Select Add as configuration
specific property.
- Specify a default value of useForYourNotes.
After you create the property, it appears in the
Custom Property list, but is not selected. After you
select it, you can edit the default text to change its value for the currently selected
component.
When you drag the component into an assembly, the
PropertyManager displays the custom property with the default text you specified.
You can edit the text value in the PropertyManager. After you create a new size, the
configuration properties contain the custom property and value.
