The Educational Edition is a version of SOLIDWORKS Electrical
specifically developed for the education and training sector.
It has the same features as the commercial edition, but data cannot be
exchanged between the two editions.
Installing the Software
The installation program is the same for both editions (Educational and commercial).
The software can be installed on a single workstation or in client/server mode.
The type of edition is defined only when the license is activated.
License Activation
As with the commercial edition, you must activate a license for the Educational
Edition. Refer to the installation documentation for further information on
licenses.
Restrictions
Apart from electrical projects, it is not possible to use data (symbols, title
blocks...) from the Educational Edition on the commercial edition.

Electrical projects created in the Educational
Edition may be unarchived on the commercial edition, but the data
(symbols, title blocks...) cannot be put into the library.
Electrical projects created in the Educational Edition can be opened
on the commercial edition, but the following actions will not be available:
- Data update when unarchiving the electrical project
- Save schemes as a macro
- Save PLC I/O macros
- Copy project-specific configurations to application-specific
configurations
- Save graphical data in the libraries
- Save cable references or manufacturer parts in the
catalogs
