Assigning Manufacturer Parts

Manufacturer parts have several applications in the software, according to the element type.

Assign a Manufacturer Part to a Component

A component is an electrical device that can have manufacturer parts associated with it. When you create a component, SOLIDWORKS Electrical lets you associate manufacturer parts with it.

If no part is added manually, the last selected part is automatically added to the Manufacturer parts list when you click Select.

Assign a Manufacturer Part to a Symbol

  1. Click Symbol properties > Manufacturer part and circuits .
The lower part of the dialog box shows a list of circuits that constitute the component (all symbols composing the device).
  2. Click Search to search for a manufacturer part or Add manufacturer part to create a new one.
  3. From the shortcut menu of the manufacturer part, activate or deactivate circuit testing.
When the testing is activated, SOLIDWORKS Electrical compares the circuits of the component (symbols) with the circuits contained in the manufacturer part.
    • The green color indicates consistency between the symbol circuits and the manufacturer part circuits.
    • The red color indicates an inconsistency. Certain circuit symbols are not present in manufacturer parts. Add auxiliaries or modify your component to add the symbols within the manufacturer part.
    • The blue color indicates that the manufacturer part contains circuits not represented in the symbol (reserved circuits).

Assign a Manufacturer Part to a Location

  1. Click Location properties > Manufacturer parts .
  2. In the Manufacturer parts tab, click Search.

Assign a Manufacturer Part to a Terminal

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Terminal Strip Editor > Manufacturer parts > Assign Manufacturer part .
    • Click Terminal Properties > Manufacturer parts and circuits .
  2. In the terminal strip editor, select the terminals you want to apply a manufacturer part to.
  3. Click Manufacturer Parts.

Assign a Manufacturer Part to a Terminal Strip

  1. Click Terminal Strip Properties > Manufacturer parts and circuits .
  2. In the Manufacturer parts tab, click Search.
  3. Select a manufacturer part.
The selected manufacturer part is assigned to the terminal strip, not to the terminal. This feature can be used to select accessories of the terminal (not to be confused with a component).
