Inserting PLCs

You can insert a PLC or PLC symbol into your schematic drawing.

To insert a PLC or symbol, you must open a scheme or a mixed scheme from the current project.

Insert a New PLC

You can create a new PLC and insert it into your drawing in one operation.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the main menu, click Schematic > Insert PLC .
    • In the PLC management dialog box, click Insert PLC .
  2. In the Dynamic PLC insertion dialog box, click Do you want to create a new PLC?.
  3. In the Manufacturer part selection dialog box, select the manufacturer part to insert into your drawing.
  4. In the Component properties dialog box, you can customize the properties of the selected manufacturer part.
  5. In the Dynamic PLC insertion panel, do the following:
    1. Select a PLC drawing configuration.
    2. Select the circuits to include in the drawing.
    3. Associate inputs and outputs for the selected circuits.
  6. In the graphical area, use the mouse pointer to position the PLC in your drawing, and click to place it.

Insert an Existing PLC

You can insert an existing PLC into your drawing.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the main menu, click Schematic > Insert PLC .
    • In the PLC management dialog box, click Insert PLC .
    • In the Components dockable panel, right-click a PLC mark and click Insert PLC .
  2. In the Dynamic PLC insertion dialog box, click Do you want to select an existing PLC?.
  3. In the PLC selector dialog box, select the PLC to insert into your drawing.
  4. Click Properties to customize the properties of the selected manufacturer part.
  5. In the Dynamic PLC insertion panel, do the following:
    1. Select a PLC drawing configuration.
    2. Select the circuits to include in the drawing.
    3. Associate inputs and outputs for the selected circuits.
  6. In the graphical area, use the mouse pointer to position the PLC in your drawing, and click to place it.

Insert a PLC Symbol

You can insert a symbol that represents a PLC into your drawing.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the main menu, click Schematic > Insert Symbol .
    • In the Components dockable panel, right-click a PLC mark and click Insert Symbols .
  2. In the Symbol insertion panel, do the following:
    • Select the symbol to include in the drawing.
    • Select the orientation for the selected symbol.
    • Select the following options:
      Option Description
      Manual mark When selected, the Symbol dialog box opens and the mark automatically displays in manual mode.
      Ask for properties When cleared, calculates the mark and applies it according to the electrical project settings.
      Adjust size to drawing unit When selected, manages dimension unit conflict, such as inserting an IEC symbol into a drawing with a title block with imperial units.
  3. In the graphical area, use the mouse pointer to position the symbol in your drawing, and click to place it.
