Inserting Devices

You can insert and specify devices.

Open the layout drawing for the location of the cabinet. The manufacturer parts allocated to the cabinet, ducts, rails, or accessories appear in the dockable panel.
  1. Insert ducts using one of the following methods:
    • Click Cabinet layout > Insert 2D footprint .
    • Right-click the device reference and click Insert.
    • Double-click the device reference.
If a 2D footprint is associated with the manufacturer part, it is inserted. If no symbol is associated, a generic symbol (for example, EW_2D_CircuitBreaker for a circuit breaker) is inserted using the manufacturer part dimensions.

If you select several components, the Insertion order dialog box opens to help you manage the associated symbols, and to define the order to insert the 2D footprints.

  2. To insert another symbol or edit a symbol:
    1. Click Other symbol to select another symbol associated with this manufacturer part.
    2. Select the angle of rotation of the 2D footprint and adjust the direction of insertion of the 2D footprint. Click the insertion point in the graphic interface.
  3. Optional: Select Hide background to place elements behind the new element.

The scale factor selected, when inserting the cabinet, is used when inserting the device.

  4. Optional: Copy the device.
Copying a device that already exists in the graphical interface automatically creates a new device, identical to the original.
  5. Optional: Right-click the device and click Add manufacturer part.
    1. From the manufacturer dialog box, select a new reference.
    2. Confirm the selection to insert the 2D footprint.
