Opening the Symbol Selector

You can insert all symbol types: schematics, line diagrams, connection labels, and 2D footprints using Other symbol .

  1. Click Schematic > Insert symbol .
  2. Click Other symbol to open the Symbol selector.
    The Symbol selector opens when you edit the properties of a symbol or a manufacturer part are under Terminal type .
  3. Select the symbol to insert.
    The symbols in the selector are stored in Symbol management.
    Option Description
    Properties. Opens the Properties dialog box of the selected symbols. If you select several symbols, the Properties dialog box displays only the common properties.
    Preview. Opens the symbol in a preview dialog box. This interface prevents modifications.
    List mode. Displays symbols in the form of a list (Name, Description, and classification). In this mode, you can copy the list of the selected element to another application, such as Excel.
    Thumbnail mode. Displays symbols in the form of thumbnail previews.
    Configuration. Allows you to manage the display settings for items in the dialog box.
  4. Click Select to validate.
    The validated symbol includes the following:
    • The Insert symbol feature automatically adds the selected symbol to the Symbol insertion side panel.
    • The Properties of the selected symbol or a manufacturer part is automatically saved.
    • The Classification tab displays the classification of symbols in tree form.
      • The left side of the dialog box shows the classifications of the symbol.
      • The right side shows the symbol in the selected classification.
      • Click Display sub-class content to display all the symbols contained in the subclass of the selected classification.
    • The Filter tab filters the symbols list. Filter criteria from the symbol properties are shown.
      • The right side of the dialog box shows the symbols corresponding to the selected criteria.
      • Click Remove filter to remove all filter criteria.
