Hot and Cold Runner System PropertyManager

A runner system corresponds to a channel system through which molten polymer flows from the injector nozzle to the part cavity.

To open either the Cold Runner System or Hot Runner System PropertyManager:

  • In the PlasticsManager tree, right-click Domains , and click Cold Runner System or Hot Runner System .

Hot runners use a screw nozzle that is fed by a barrel using a pump, while cold runners use a closed, thermoset mold. You can create runner systems from sketches that represent the centerline of the runner channel. SOLIDWORKS Plastics creates temporary solid bodies from the sketch-based runners, which you can mesh and use in plastic injection molding simulations.

Selections

Select sketch lines that define the channel system layout.

Channel Parameters

Select one of the standard cross sections for the runner layout, which is defined by the selected sketch lines, and specify its dimensions. All standard cross sections are available for the solid and shell analysis procedures.

Flip Dimension Reverses the dimensions of the selected cross section.
Temperature Specifies the temperature of the hot runner system components.
