Importing CATIA Drawing Files

CATIA Drawing lets you import CATIA Drawing files (.CATDrawing) to DraftSight. When you install the desktop version of DraftSight, you can select CATIA Drawings Import to avail CATIA Drawing. For platform versions of DraftSight, CATIA Drawing is available by default.

When you import a CATIA drawing file to DraftSight, the software converts it to a DWG file and displays the DWG file in the graphics area.

To import CATIA drawing files:

  1. Do one of the following:
    1. On the ribbon, from Drafting and Annotation, click Import > CATIA Drawing.
    2. Enter IMPORTCATDRAWING in the command window.
A dialog box displays CATDrawing files.
  2. Select a CATDrawing file and click OK to open the file.
  3. Drag a CATIA drawing file from 3DSpace or 3DDrive into the graphics area.
The software converts it to a DWG file and opens it in DraftSight.
In 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight, you can drop a CATIA drawing file (.CATDrawing) from My Session or browser.

When you import a CATIA Drawing file that has multiple sheets to DraftSight, all the sheets are displayed sequentially in the sheet or layout tabs.

All entities in the CATIA Drawing file are also displayed in the model space.
