Using Model Views in Drawing Sheet Sets

The Model Views tab of the Sheet Set Manager displays a tree view of folder locations that are available for the current drawing sheet set. Expanding a folder location node displays all folders and drawings in that location. Expanding a drawing node displays the model views from that drawing.

At any time, you can associate drawings from a specified folder with the current drawing sheet set. For example, if you are working with external referenced drawings, you can add the folder where you store the referenced drawings to a drawing sheet set.

The Model View tab lets you access the external references at any time.

You can do the following:

  • Add as many locations as necessary or remove the existing ones
  • Open a drawing from a specified location
  • Preview and display descriptive information about the selected item
  • Place a drawing and its views on a sheet

Adding a Folder Location to the Current Drawing Sheet Set

To add a folder location to the current drawing sheet set:

  1. In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
  2. On the Model Views tab, do one of the following:
    • Click Add New Location .
    • Right-click an existing location and select Add New Location from the context menu.
  3. Navigate to the folders that contain the drawings to make accessible for the current drawing sheet set.
  4. Click Select Folder.

The folder location appears in the tree view. Expanding the folder location node displays all folders and drawings in that location. Expanding a drawing node displays the model views from that drawing.

Placing a Model View on the Current Sheet

You can add a model view from the Model Views tab to the current sheet or an entire drawing as a view on the current sheet.

To place an entire drawing or a model view on the current sheet:

Click Toggle preview to display the Preview area.

  1. In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
  2. On the Drawing Sheet List tab, do one of the following:
    • Open an existing sheet.
    • Create a new sheet and open it.
  3. On the Model Views tab, navigate to the drawing file or model view to place on the sheet. The Preview area displays previews of the selected drawing or model view.
  4. Right-click a drawing or a model view within a drawing and select Place on Sheet from the context menu. Alternatively, you can drag a model view or a drawing from the Model Views tab on a sheet.

The drawing frame appears attached to the mouse cursor.

  5. Right-click and select a suitable scale from the menu.

Note: You can change the drawing scale list. On the status bar, click Annotation and select Scale List from the displayed menu.

  6. In the graphics area, specify the drawing location.

The drawing or the model view is attached as an external reference with an insertion point in the origin.

Note: The software attaches the entire drawing. According to your selection (drawing or model view) the entire content of the model workspace is displayed or only what is visible in the model view.
