Toggling the Mirror Orientation option flips normal direction (blue arrow) of the triad on an individual face.
In the figure, when Mirror Orientation option is cleared, positive ply angle is defined in the counter-clockwise direction (with arrows forming a right hand triad). Arrows at the center of face are zoomed in and shown separately. The ply angle for the face is 60 degrees.

In the figure below, when Mirror Orientation option is selected, the direction of blue arrow is flipped. Positive ply angle is defined in clockwise direction. As a result a ply angle of 60 degrees now corresponds to a ply angle of -60 degrees before mirror orientation.
