Exporting SOLIDWORKS Data from the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

You can export SOLIDWORKS data from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in data exchange packages.

  1. Select a node in MySession.

    If no node is selected, the entire structure is exported.

    Recommendation: Open the data in MySession from an empty local cache. If data is already present in the local cache, use Reload from Server to export the data.

  2. From the action bar of MySession, click the Tools tab.
  3. Click Export as Package .

    The package appears in the Unified X-CAD Design Exchange app.

  4. The tab displays the following details. You can edit some columns to meet your requirements.
    Column Description
    Title The title of the object.
    Revision The revision number of the object.
    Purpose Defines the purpose for the supplier.
    • For Edit: The object can be modified.
    • Read-only: The object cannot be modified.
    (Optional) Lets you specify how the purpose of the object is applied to related objects.
    • Apply Purpose to all Parent: The purpose of the selected child to be applied to all its parents.
    • Apply Purpose to all Children: The purpose of the current parent to be applied to all its children.
  5. Optional: Take any of the following actions in the export dialog box:
    • To sort the list, click , and to change the view settings click .
    • To add drawings to the package if they exist in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for the selected nodes, click .

      Also, when the package is imported, the drawings are listed in the import view.

    The information panel displays the numeric details of the structure, such as the parts, assemblies, drawings, total rows, For Edit, and Read-only.
  6. In the Destination section, select one of the following:
    • 3DDrive: Select the destination folder on 3DDrive.

      On the cloud only: This option is available only with the PLM Collaborative Services Adapter Client (C++ based application).

      Optional: Open 3DDrive after export. This option opens 3DDrive in the task pane. The uploaded package is highlighted and you can perform different actions like share, preview, add to favorites, and move to.

    • Folder on Disk: Select the destination folder.

      Optional: Open the folder after export. This option opens the folder where the export package is created.

  7. In the Package Name field enter the package name.
  8. Click Export.

    The package is exported with a .sldpkg extension. If the package contains files that are modified on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform while the export is in progress, an error is displayed, and the export operation fails.
