Loading a new HDR image into an environment replaces an old HDR image. After loading, you see the lighting in the scene change to use the light from the new HDR image.
An environment map is an image intended to entirely enclose a scene, either to provide a convincing background or to project real-world lighting or reflection data onto a model surface.
To load HDR environment images:

Do one of the following:
- Click .
- Right-click in the 3D Viewport and click .
- On the Scenes tab, right-click in the thumbnail
window and click New HDR Environment.

On the Scenes tab, click
Add
, and click New HDR
Environment
- From
File
Explorer, you can drag an HDR Environment image onto
the SOLIDWORKS Visualize 3D Viewport.
- In the dialog box, browse to an HDR image and click Open.
The HDR image loads into the project's environment.
