Associate with Existing 3D Parts or Assemblies

An icon before each component in the component tree indicates whether the component is associated with a 3D part or assembly.

Icon Description
Filter Manufacturer Parts. Filters various types of manufacturer parts based on the selection. From the list, select one of the following:
  • Filter Associated Manufacturer Parts. Filters all the associated manufacturers parts from the electrical component tree.
  • Filter Accessory Manufacturer Parts. Filters the manufacturer parts that are categorized as an accessory type when you define the scheme in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic.
  • Filter Auxiliary Manufacturer Parts. Filters the manufacturer parts that are categorized as an auxillary type when you define the scheme in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic.
  • Filter Manufacturer Parts excluded from BOM. Filters the manufacturer parts that are excluded from appearing in the BOM (reports) when you define the scheme in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic.
Expands/collapses the component tree.
Displays a tooltip for tools available to manipulate the component.

To associate components to 3D parts or assemblies:

  1. In the component tree, right-click components and select Associate .
  2. In the list of the components, select components.
  3. Iin the graphics area, select the corresponding 3D parts or assemblies to associate with the selected components.

Associate Components

The list displays the components that you selected.

3D Part or 3D Assembly to Associate. Lists the selected elements in the graphics area. A shortcut menu lets you manage them.

Properties

Displays the properties of the selected 3D part or assembly to evaluate the circuits and connection points.

Cable Point. Displays the name of the connection point for a cable if it exists in the selected 3D part or assembly.

Display Option

  • Hide associated components. Hides all 3D parts or assemblies that are already associated in the graphics area.
  • Show associated components. Shows all the 3D parts or assemblies in the graphics area. Select Transparent to display the already associated 3D parts or assemblies in gray.

When you associate a component with a 3D part from an assembly, a message asks if you want to associate it with the 3D part or the assembly.
