Interface Concepts

The Composer graphical user interface (GUI) is divided into several sections.

The various sections of the interface are numbered in the image above, and described in the table below.

Number Interface Element Description
1 Quick Access Toolbar Provides quick access to frequently used commands. The Quick Access toolbar is configurable.

See Quick Access Toolbar.

2 Ribbon Provides access to application features from a ribbon with a number of menus and tabs.

See Working with the Ribbon.

3 Left Pane Contains the Assembly, Collaboration, and Views panes by default. You can add other panes such as BOM and Markers.

See Working with the Left Panes.

4 Properties Pane Lets you view and edit properties of selected actors, such as color, opacity, and font.

See Editing Actor Properties.

5 Status Bar Displays instructions for using commands and other useful information. Also contains several commands.

See Status Bar.

6 Viewport Displays the 3D scene, which is the stage for all Composer actors (geometry, collaboration, camera, lighting, and so on). Lets you visualize one or more models in the same window or in separate windows using the multi-document interface with document tabs.

See Navigating the Viewport.

7 Timeline Lets you create, edit, and play 3D animations. Composer uses a keyframe-based interface. You create keys to capture actor properties and positions, and then Composer smoothly animates the transition between keys.

See Using the Timeline.

8 Workshops Pane Provides access to Composer feature sets, called workshops.

See Working in Workshops.
