Reporting a Problem

You can send us an e-mail with support material which will help us fix the problem.

Context: If Composer crashes, a dialog box appears and one or more of the following files are created:

  • ComposerERRORLOG.TXT
  • ComposerCRASH.DMP - Requires the dbghelp.dll file, which is typically available on Windows XP machines. If you do not have this file, ask support to send it to you.
  • ComposerLOG.XML

In the dialog box, click Send Error Report to your support to create an e-mail with these files as attachments.
  • You can specify recipients and then send the e-mail.
  • Or, click Don't Send to your support if you do not want to send an e-mail.

Tip: Use the SupportEmailDump option to specify whether an e-mail message is generated (but not sent) automatically. See Advanced Settings.
Important: If a crash occurs while using a package, the crash report dialog box does not appear, but ComposerExplorerERRORLOG.TXT and ComposerExplorerCRASH.DMP are created.

Crash files are written to the User folder by default. See Application Paths. If the application cannot generate files at the specified location, they are created where the package was executed.
