Bill of Materials Settings

Use the Bill of Materials screen of the Toolbox - Settings dialog box to specify the format of Bills of Materials (BOMs) you create in your drawings.

To display Bill of Materials settings:

  1. Click Mechanical Annotate > Settings.
  2. In the Toolbox - Settings dialog box, in the left pane, click Tables, and, in the right pane, expand Bills of Materials.

Option Description
Header orientation Indicates the header placement when you create BOM in a drawing with balloons.
Top:
  • When you create a BOM, you are prompted to specify the upper-left corner of the table as the insertion point.
  • The BOM header is placed at the top of the table.
  • Item numbers are listed from the top down.
Bottom:
  • When you create a BOM, you are prompted to specify the lower-left corner of the table as the insertion point.
  • The BOM header is placed at the bottom of the table.
  • Item numbers are listed from the bottom up.
Anchor point Indicates the corner of the table that is used when you anchor the table:
  • Top left
  • Top right
  • Bottom left
  • Bottom right
Layer preferences Lets you modify the default layer, linecolor, linestyle, and lineweight settings.
Display title When enabled, the table title is displayed.
To suppress the title, clear the check box.

Text

Option Description
Style Sets the text style used in balloons and BOM headings.
The default text style is Standard.
Size Sets the size of the balloon text, in conjunction with the balloon shape dimensions.
Change case Lets you choose the case of the BOM DESCRIPTION field:
  • Unchanged. The case matches the Description Format in the standard that you are using.
  • Sentence case. The first word of the description is capitalized. All other words are lower case.
  • lowercase. The entire description is lowercase.
  • UPPERCASE. The entire description is uppercase.
  • Capitalize Each Word. Each word of the description is capitalized.
