Managing the Quality of the PDF File
Whether you create one PDF file or several PDF files, you can improve the quality of the fonts and images used in the PDF file. Additionally, you can specify how to handle layers and hyperlinks.
To improve the quality, increase the resolution of the PDF file. For graphics that require resizing, it is recommended to use vector file types.
The dialog box lets you manage the quality of the PDF file, the fonts, and the data to include in the PDF file.
It is a subdialog of the Print dialog box.
To set PDF quality options for a PDF file:
- Quality options can be set:
- When printing one or more drawings to PDF format: in the Print dialog box, in Printer/plotter, in Name, select PDF. Click PDF Options.
- When exporting a drawing to PDF format: from the PDF Export dialog box, click Additional options.
- In the dialog box, do the following:
To control the quality, in Quality Management, specify the options:
- Vector quality. Lets you specify the resolution of vector graphics within the PDF file. For printing from a viewer, use resolutions matching the printer output. For on-screen viewing, you can use resolutions above 2400 dpi.
- Raster image quality. Lets you specify the resolution of raster images. For printing from a viewer, use resolutions matching the printer output. For on-screen viewing, you can use resolutions above 2400 dpi.
- Merge control. Lets you specify whether overlapping lines overwrite or merge.
To control the data to include in the PDF file, in Data Management, specify the options:
- Use layers in PDF (PDF v1.5 or higher). Creates layers in the PDF file according to the layers in the drawing. Increases the PDF file size.
- Add hyperlinks. Lets you convert sheet links into hyperlinks in multi-sheet PDF files.
To manage TrueType fonts from the drawings, in Font Management, specify the options:
- Click OK.
You can print the drawing on a printer or plotter. You can also print the drawing to a file.
Use a PageLayout to determine the output of your drawing.
Use a Print Configuration to determine the output of your drawing.
