Saving SOLIDWORKS Simulation Results on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

You can save SOLIDWORKS models with associative simulation results on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Depending on your access to the appropriate 3DEXPERIENCE role, you can save simulation results locally or on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Simulation results (*.cwr) files are saved on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform along with the associated SOLIDWORKS model. When you save a SOLIDWORKS model in a collaborative space on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you can open it directly in SOLIDWORKS and view the associative simulation results that you saved on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

When SOLIDWORKS Connected is in Offline mode, you can only save simulation results locally. To save simulation results on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, return to Online mode. For more information, see Offline Mode for SOLIDWORKS Connected.

To save SOLIDWORKS models with simulation results on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform:

  1. Open the selected SOLIDWORKS model to save on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  2. Right-click the top node of the selected simulation study and select Save Results To 3DEXPERIENCE.
The icon appears on the simulation study tab indicating that you choose to save the results of this study on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  3. Run the simulation study to generate the simulation results (*.cwr) file.
  4. In the MySession widget of the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane, right-click the active SOLIDWORKS file, and select Save.
The Save command converts the SOLIDWORKS model to a PLM physical product. The simulation results (*cwr) file is saved as a 3DEXPERIENCE database object that is associated with the SOLIDWORKS physical product. The SOLIDWORKS physical product and the associative simulation results database object are saved to the collaborative space on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform that you have initially logged into. You can save results from multiple simulation studies on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Once the 3DEXPERIENCE database objects are indexed, you can search for them in the collaborative space at which they were saved with 3DSearch and 3DSpace.

When you use SOLIDWORKS Connected and you activated the SOLIDWORKS Simulation Professional or SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium license, Trend Tracker is not available when you select Save Results to 3DEXPERIENCE.
