Local Work Folder

You can download SOLIDWORKS files from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and manage those files in the local work folder.

Accessing Local Work Folder

The local work folder is created in the 3DEXPERIENCE directory under Favorites when you connect SOLIDWORKS to 3DEXPERIENCE Platform for the first time. Several local work folders can be created with different usernames. If you open the directory for the first time, it may be empty.

The location of the local folder is independent of the language settings and uses the current tenant information. The folder is named based on the following conditions:
  • If the cache is clean, the folder is named as: %TENANT_ID%(%username%).
  • If no local cache is found, a new local work folder is created with name as: %TENANT_ID%(%username%).
  • On premises only: The folder is named as: %TENANT_ID%(on-premise).
If an existing cache (MyWork) that is language dependent is present, the same cache is used.

Columns

In the local work folder, details of the files are displayed in the following columns:
Column Description
File name The file name that you entered for the SOLIDWORKS file (ex. sldprt, sldasm, slddrw).
Revision Revision number of the file. If a later version revision exists within 3DEXPERIENCE, the A+ sign and value are displayed. This column is empty if the file does not exist in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Maturity State Shows the state of the file when last retrieved from the server. This column is empty if the file does not exist in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Collaborative Space Displays the name of the collaborative space selected at the login.
Status Represents the status of a given revision of the file in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The following are the different statuses:
  • New
  • Up-to-date
  • Locally Modified
  • Not up to date
Lock Status Shows whether the file is locked. This column is empty if the file does not exist in 3DEXPERIENCE. Lock status can be represented by three icons as follows:
  • Locked by me (icon)
  • Locked by other user (icon)
  • Not Locked (icon)
Locked By Shows the login username of the person who has locked the file. This column is empty if the file is not locked.

Creation Date Date and time when the file was first saved into 3DEXPERIENCE. This column is empty if the file does not exist in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Description Displays the description information as present in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
If you change the description attribute from the Properties, the updated description is seen only when you save the object in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Responsible User who is responsible for the file in 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
You can right-click a column, select More, and choose more columns to display. You can reorder the columns.
