You can display component descriptions in the FeatureManager design tree
in part, assembly, and drawing documents and in the ConfigurationManager of parts and
assemblies.
To show component descriptions:

At the top of the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the
part, assembly, or drawing name, and select .
You can specify display options for component names and
descriptions at the document level or the system level. When using the
system level settings, you cannot change the settings at the document
level.
To specify options at the system level, click
and select Override document
level tree display. Click Component Name and Description to open the dialog
box.
When you select Override document level tree display, the options in
the Component Name and Description
dialog box are disabled at the document level.

In the dialog box, select Component
Description.
The FeatureManager design tree displays the component
names.
- By default, component descriptions are the same
as the component names and are not displayed. You must specify a
new component description in the component part file for it to
appear in the FeatureManager design tree. See Properties - Custom and Configuration Properties.

appear only if Description (the default) is selected in
Custom property used as custom
description in the General system options. You can select a
different item for Custom property
used as custom description, but you must set a
value for that custom property on the Custom tab of the Properties dialog box. See Properties.
