Study Type

Nonlinear.

Mesh Type

Shell mesh.

Shell Parameters

Shell thickness = 0.12" - thin shell formulation.

Material Model

Linear elastic isotropic.

Material Properties

Modulus of elasticity = 1 x 107 psi, Poisson's ratio = 0.3162.

Modeling Hints

Due to symmetry, only a quarter of the plate is modeled. Draft quality shell mesh is used.

Restraints and Loads

All edges are simply supported. The pressure load is applied as follows:

Results

The load parameter versus the deflection ratio at the center of the plate is in good agreement with analytical results.

The results of the nonlinear analysis have been processed by a graphing software to generate the above graph.
