Steady State Heat Conduction in a Plate

Description

The temperature at one of the edges of a square plate 4mX4mX0.1m is maintained at 100 ºC. The temperature of the other 3 edges is maintained at 0 ºC. Find the temperature at the center of the plate.

File Name

Browse to drive letter:\Users\Public\Public Documents\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS version\samples\Simulation Examples\Verification\Thermal_1.SLDPRT and open the file.

Mesh Type

Shell mesh.

Shell Parameters

Shell thickness = 0.1 m - Thin shell formulation.

Material Properties

Thermal conductivity = 43 w/(m.ºC).

Modeling Hints

One half of the plate is modeled. The plate is split into two surfaces so that the center can be easily identified. S
