Defining Pin Connectors

You define two pin connectors. The first pin is a smooth hinge that connects the cylindrical faces of the handles. The second pin simulates the resistance to tightening the bolt by associating a spring with a rotational stiffness.

To define the first pin:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the Connections folder and select Pin.
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Type:
    1. Select the two faces shown for Cylindrical Faces/Edges .
    2. Select With retaining ring (No translation).
    3. Clear With key (No rotation).
  3. Under Connection Type, select Distributed.
The default Rotational Stiffness value is 0 (frictionless hinge).
  4. Click .
  5. Rename the connector to pin between branches.
