Opening the Beam Part and Creating a Study

  1. Browse to drive letter:\Users\Public\Public Documents\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS version\samples\Simulation Examples\Beams\beam_diagrams.SLDPRT and open the file.
  2. Click New Study (Simulation CommandManager).
  3. In the PropertyManager:
    1. Under General Simulation, click Static.
    2. Enter ShearMoment for name.
  4. Click .
  5. In the Simulation study tree, expand beam_diagrams and:
    1. Right-click SolidBody 1 and click Treat as Beam.
    2. Right-click SolidBody 2 and click Treat as Beam.
  6. Right-click Joint group and click Edit.
  7. In the Edit Joints PropertyManager under Selected Beams, click Calculate.
    Three joints appear under Results.
  8. Click .
    Two beam icons appear in the beam_diagrams folder and a Joint group folder appears in the Simulation study tree.
