Defining the Scenarios for your Design

In this procedure, you define 30 different scenarios. You use the Variable View tab and perform an Evaluation Design study as there are no goals to optimize. You define different scenarios for your design based on a changing time step parameter (stpnum).

  1. Click the Design Study 1 tab.
  2. On the Variable View tab, in the Variables section, select stpnum from the list.
The parameter appears in the Variables section.
  3. For stpnum, select Range with Step.
  4. For Min, type 1, for Max, type 30, and for Step, type 1.
The program defines 30 scenarios with different values of the stpnum parameter.
  5. In the Constraints list, select Add Sensor.
    1. In the Sensor PropertyManager, select Simulation Data as the Sensor Type.
    2. For Results , select Stress.
    3. For Component , select VON: von Mises Stress.
    4. Click PM_OK.gif.
  6. Add three more sensors for the three Principal Stress components, P1, P2, and P3.
  7. For each of the sensors, select Monitor Only.
The program monitors the values of these sensors without imposing any constraints.
  8. For the study, select Ready-Thermal Stress for each of the sensors.
  9. In the FeatureManager design tree, review the locations defined for the Workflow Sensitive simulation sensor.
In addition to locations with the global extreme quantities, results will be available at the six points shown below.
