Opening the Assembly and Running the Static Study

  1. Browse to drive letter:\Users\Public\Public Documents\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS version\samples\Simulation Examples\Fatigue\Landing_Gear.SLDASM and open the file.
The assembly document has a static study named Ready_Static with External Loads and Fixtures defined. You use this study as the reference study for defining the fatigue loading event.
  2. Review the External Loads and Fixtures.
Note that the wheels are not modeled. A total bearing force of 6,000 lbs (represented by external load) is applied to the faces that connect the wheel with the axle.
Double-click Fixture-1 and Bearing Loads-1 to open their PropertyManagers.
  3. In the Ready_Static study tree, right-click the Mesh icon and select Create Mesh .
  4. In the PropertyManager:
    1. Apply the recommended mesh settings.
      Under Mesh Parameters:
      • Standard mesh: Selected
      • Global Size : 0.5 in
      • Tolerance : 0.025 in
      • Automatic transition: Cleared
      Under Advanced:
      • Jacobian Points: 16 points

      Mesh Quality: High

    2. Select Run (solve) the analysis.
    3. Click .
  5. View the results of the static study by double-clicking on the Stress1 (-vonMises-) plot. The stress plot has units of psi.
