The program meshes sheet metals with shell elements located at the mid-surface. Due to the clearance, sheet metal and solid faces that initially touch now become non-touching. Create and view the mixed mesh that the program generates.

Click the down arrow on Run This
Study
(Simulation CommandManager) and select Create
Mesh
.
Remeshing will delete the results of the
current study.

Click
to accept the values.
The meshed model appears in the graphics area.
If the sheet metal orientation is not consistent across the
faces, select the orange colored top faces. Right-click
Mesh, and select
Flip Shell Elements

Set view orientation to Front
.
There is a clearance in the meshed geometry between the
shell and solid body since the shell mesh is located at the mid-surface of
the sheet metal.
