Replacing Redundant Mates with Hinge Mates

If your model includes a concentric mate and a coincident mate that form a hinge, you can reduce some redundancies by replacing the two mates with a hinge mate. Next, you replace a concentric-coincident mate pair with a hinge mate.

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree, select the following two mates and click Edit Feature .
    • Pivot Mate 1
    • Pivot Mate 2
You can replace these two mates with one hinge mate, because these two mates form a hinge.
  2. Under Mates in the PropertyManager, select Pivot Mate 2 and view the mate selections.
  3. Select Pivot Mate 1 and view the mate selections.
